Novotel Sheffield Centre

Overall we had a good stay and enjoyed our time here. The location is excellent and the room itself was very nice — good layout, clean, a decent fridge, great toiletries, and the fold-out bed for our child was brilliant. The pool was also a real highlight. There were a few downsides. The room was very hot and there was no air conditioning, so opening the window meant a lot of street noise. The bar felt a bit strange at times with no staff present — we often had to wait around for someone to appear to order drinks. The parking “discount” was disappointing as it was still very expensive on top of the room cost. The coffee pod allowance (one per person per 24 hours) felt a bit tight. That said, the staff we did interact with in person were excellent — very polite and helpful throughout. Overall, a nice hotel with good facilities and location, but a few areas that could definitely be improved.

I'm a regular visitor to Sheffield and always stay at the Novotel. I think this weekend was my 12th visit in 2 years, which shows they consistently get it right. Location is excellent and the rooms are always clean, spacious comfortable and well maintained. it is very handy to have a hotel in the city centre with a car park - although do be aware it is £18 per night parking and if you go out in your car during the day you will have to pay each time you return and exit. And there are limited spaces in the car park so if it is full you will need to use one of the public car parks in the city. The pool and steam room are small but lovely. The pool can get busy when the hotel is full so you may have to book a swim in advance, and sometimes the steam room is not working. I am just back from my latest stay. I have to say the star of the show at Novotel Sheffield is always Courtney on reception. She always remembers me and my son who is at Sheffield Hallam University ever since our first visit 2 years ago and makes sure everything is fine with our room and our stay in general. She has great knowledge about the local area if you are new to Sheffield. And always welcomes guests with a friendly smile - which is very welcome when like me you have travelled several hours and over 200 miles to get there! I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Lovely hotel and not too far from transport places. The bed was comfy and room was big and spacious. The bath room with separate toilet was clean and well stocked. The only negative was the carpet looked quite dirty. We only had breakfast at the hotel which was lovely the only negative I have is the juice was very watery. The staff on the day we met (Freya) was lovely and welcoming and sorted out the coffee machine for us when it wasn’t working. We would visit again.

Booked and stayed for 5 nights over Christmas 2025 - 2 rooms, one an accessible room the other connecting Queen room. The accessible room was very dated, not enough space in the wardrobe and no chest of drawers in the room. Furniture was very shabby (see photos), bed was very uncomfortable (too hard 😞), for us had this weird art piece on the wall, for us, not ascetically pleasing as you'd expect on a bedroom wall of a hotel!!! 🤷🏽‍♂️ ...sink was blocked (water took ages to flow out the plug hole) and didn't work properly (fortunately there was an extra hand basin that we used instead! 😓), no ventilation in bathroom or extractor fan wasn't working and we thought the shower was broken as it took forever to heat up and even when it finally did, it was bearly warm!!! 😞 - mentioned all the above to reception who said she would inform maintenance! The connecting Queen room was much nicer with a proper wardrobe and chest of drawers for clothes etc, shower was great and as the accessible room shower was not very good, my husband had to use the one in our daughter's room, but I couldn't unfortunately due to my disability!! 😓. Our daughter enjoyed having the space and this room to herself! What saved this hotel was the staff - with special mention has to go out to the black young woman chef/cook at breakfast times who made the best omelettes we have ever had at a hotel (and even on many cruise ships we've sailed on 😉), the breakfasts were definitely a highlight!!! 😉 Also, the hotels location being bang in the centre of Sheffield with good connections, shopping, restaurants and amenities very close.

Reception and service was great and convenient on site parking. The first floor layout was great and breakfast fine. However, the room was dated, threadbare carpet, bathroom and loo aged and water was only warm. Bed very comfortable but pillows not great. Overall a good stay just need some TLC in the room.
