An amazing museum free of charge to enter. I always love to go in. There are different exhibitions in each room I really loved the Pete Mckee. The space invaders game took me right back to my childhood along with the pictures. There is a cafe inside or you can eat in the green outdoor park with a picnic. Toilets are inside and a gift shop. There is a donation box in the main entrance. If you can spare a few pennies/pounds it would be greatly appreciated. Lots to be explored
I visited here with my mum and daughter during the summer holidays. All three of us enjoyed looking at the exhibitions. We would recommend, and will return again.
The museum isn’t very big, but it’s packed with interesting information about Sheffield. I really enjoyed the Pete McKee exhibition, it was a great experience. One of the highlights for me was the artwork about Castle Market. It brought back memories and captured the spirit of the place beautifully, showing how deeply connected McKee’s art is to local life and history.
This amazing museum is located in a magnificent building in Weston Park close to the University and the Children’s Hospital. It is free to enter but donations are always welcome. It’s very well laid out with lots of information about all aspects of Sheffield life together with other traditional subjects such as the Egyptians. When I visited there were people there of all ages; the interactive displays were very popular with children so this museum would be an excellent resource for any families homeschooling their children. I loved the Pete McKee exhibition-each piece a true reflection of growing up in Sheffield. Sheffield has a rich and diverse history which is perfectly captured in the displays. There’s a gift shop and cafe plus toilet facilities including accessible and baby changing facilities. I didn’t go to the first floor but understood there is a picnic area. So much to see and learn, I couldn’t take it all in so look forward to a return visit.
