The Kelham Island Weir is on the river don was built to supply water to the towns water mills. The weir stopped salmon from travelling up the river to lay their eggs and salmon have not lived in the river for 200 years. Deep channels have now been created to help fish return to the river. There is an information board about the habitat next to the weir in the museum car park.

Getting from A to B is one of the most travelled paths there is. If you want to do that over water you need a bridge, unless you want to get your feet wet. Ball Street Bridge spans from A to B beautifully, doing its job without expectation, without complaint. If you happen to cross her, say hello.
