We went to here today, which is a Saturday, it. Cost us £14 entry on the door, which we were worried it wouldn’t be worth it originally having never gone before, but as soon as we went in we loved it! I would say definitely make sure you have at least 3 hours free time, as we had a dinner booked at 4 and got there at about 2:20, and sadly didn’t get everything we wanted done. On a Saturday especially as it did get a fair bit busier as the day went on, morning may be a better session! The staff were so friendly, definitely made a great first impression before even going in, always a nice welcome to be welcomed to friendly faces! Honestly it’s definitely somewhere to visit, not sure if it’s the kind of place you could go often though as it’s generally all the same games. Also has a good small merch shop!
Really enjoyed a morning here with a group ranging in age from 12 to 50. Something for everyone. Clean toilets and good facilities including lockers. Parking is close by and also the bus station is a short walk away. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We loved that the tickets are valid for return visits for a whole year! Excellent value. Highly recommend.
I had a good time but the museum walks a strange line between interesting games, classics and console games. They are grouped thematically like Sonic or Mario games or driving games ( they had micromachines for the ps1 with the thingy to plug 4 controllers, so many memories), also taken 2. I would have liked more arcade machines and fewer consoles to be fair. Also, it probably is a good museum to visit with someone else as a lot of the games would be better played in two player mode.
Absolutely loved this place. Took me back to my childhood and my 8yo loved playing the various consoles and games through the ages. I loved learning about the evolution of gaming and it was fun to play the arcade games without spending a fortune. Friendly staff. Cute gift shop. No cafe, food or refreshments but its not needed for the duration of visit. Parking: 2 minute walk from NCP hartshead square. Lockers 50p refundable Duration: definitely needed the full 3 hour time slot Didn't give 5 stars as some of the games weren't working or set up in a different language. Would definatley recommend and visit again.
The National Videogame Museum is a fantastic place to visit, especially if you grew up playing classic games. They have a great collection of old, traditional arcade and console games that instantly bring back childhood memories. It’s a real nostalgia trip and also a lot of fun for anyone new to retro gaming. What I really liked is that there’s no time limit on how long you can stay, so you can take your time exploring and playing as much as you like. Just note they do close briefly for lunch, but it’s easy enough to plan around. The facilities are good too, with toilets available on-site, which makes it convenient if you’re spending a few hours there. Overall, it’s a fun and unique activity for both adults and kids, and I’d happily recommend it for a day out.
