Absolutely exemplary experience, booked on a much needed couple’s Ishga Face & Body treatment with spa access and afternoon tea. The pool, sauna, steam, experience shower and ice igloo room were wonderful, the afternoon tea was beautifully presented and a very handsome portion for two bottomless pits when it comes to food! The scones were even freshly warmed which was a really thoughtful touch. Our facial and massage were with the lovely Saffron & Lucy, not only was the experience very high end relaxation but the treatments were thorough and extensive using beautiful products that were expertly applied and administered. My husband and I genuinely said we ‘went to another dimension’ during the treatment, the perfect escapism and luxury care. Definitely going to make this a regular wellness visit, fantastic value experience and amazing to have in Sheffield city centre too!
Booked last minute spa day with a 50 mins treatment for a relaxing treat post-christmas. When we came here some time ago I recall the facilities being reasonably good. Unfortunately on this visit it is clear that nothing has been done to upkeep facilities for some time. All the thermal experience rooms seem dirty, dated, and not well maintained (mouldy grout, missing tiles, silt on the aromatherapy room benches, missing trims on the edge of benches). The floors are soaking wet everywhere and are being cleaned up with used customer towels - I literally observed the staff take used towels out the laundry bin and then go and wipe up floors with them which is a bit grim. There was issues with locker availability for some guests which seemed to present some challenges. All in all the facilities look tired and in need of a significant refurbishment. Some easy immediate fixes: greater locker availability, more hooks by thermal rooms for guests to put robes on, more sunbeds/ chairs, and signage to encourage people to be quiet in places such as the relax rooms and thermal rooms. The relaxation experience before and after our treatments was sadly tainted by an incredibly noisy family group who talked persistently and loudly for the whole time we were up there. I gave up trying to use the relaxation room post massage as there was nothing relaxing about it. I understand its difficult to manage but signage encouraging no or minimal talking in these rooms and prompts from staff to keep these spaces as quiet zones could assist with this. The treatment itself was very good but the room I was having it in was quite cold which again limits relaxation. The server in the champagne bar was excellent and the food was delicious which did help brighten up the day. All in all the treatment, good food, and excellent restaurant staff do help you feel you are getting reasonable value for money it's just the spa facilities in need of a refurb and guidance to guests to keep certain areas as a relaxing place to attend.
Really disappointed with the spa. Each of the rooms are very dirty & run down. The floor was dirty & not cleaned regularly. There are no staff monitoring the area which ensured people took advantage for example whilst in the sauna a young man kept placing olbas oil on the stones, another example was a “gentleman” spitting phlegm in the shower experience area. We booked through spa breaks as a birthday treat & really disappointed. The hotel is beautiful & staff at the hotel are so helpful & couldn’t do enough for us
Quite dirty and disgusting. Swim pool water has much dirt. They used towels to wiped the floor, even toilet leaked. This place must not meet the hygienic standard.
We came to the spa as part of a package on spa seekers, staying at the Mercure hotel. The spa was nice. There wasn't anyone on reception when we got there so that wasn't helpful, but we checked in and got given towels and went into the changing rooms. The pool is a nice size. The sauna, steam and this other room were good. They have an ice igloo but this isn't really cold at all, and also they turned some of the rooms off at like 5:30-6pm even though the spa stays open until 8pm which was a bit annoying. There isn't enough loungers/chairs around the pool either in my opinion. But when it was time for our treatment we went upstairs and again there was no one on reception. The therapist however, and the treatments were stunning. We had the Himalayan salt scrub and the marine back treatment. It is a nice sow to go to and the gym is also a good size, but it can get a little busy
