I've wanted to give Yoga a go for quite a while so I tried a one-off beginners class here at the start of the year - loved it so I booked onto the next available course & I'm enjoying going every week since. Super handy to be able to pay as you go for one off's or buy the classes in blocks to save money! The class sizes are small which is perfect for beginners, there is a wideba variety of equipment available to assist throughout the class, even chairs and blankets to help with poses and essential cushioning! There are 2 rooms for Yoga classes, the front hall is beautiful, flooded with natural light during the day and is lovely and airy throughout. The back hall has a foam insulated floor, perfect for padding around barefoot! The layout of the building is a quirky but suits the needs perfectly, & adds a homely feel to it. There are benches in the entrance to leave shoes, the rest of the building is for socks or barefeet. There is even a cozy lounge/library area to relax in or sit and wait for a class, again very homely. The instructor I have for the beginners class (Anna) is amazing. Very knowledgeable but relaxed and not at all aloof like some I have met before elsewhere! She makes you feel completely at ease even when you have no idea what the "professional" names for the poses means. She is extremely patient and attentive, offers frequent modifications to the poses for anyone less flexible or with an injury and adapts the class to suit all. She walks round to help with any adjustments and to give praise to those improving. This style of teaching is prerfect for the smaller class sizes and particularly new beginners. Thoroughly enjoying the classes here, I feel all ages and abilities welcome highly recommend giving a class here a go!
I have been a student at Sheffield Yoga Centre for more than 10 years. There is a great selection of classes for all abilities. I started as a mature beginner and have attended various classes which have all been excellent. I have found the teaching to be highly skilled and very supportive. The centre is well equipped and provides a lovely environment for yoga practice. Iyengar yoga helped me manage my osteoarthritis and the centre's excellent therapeutic class was key to my fantastic recovery from knee surgery.
I have been taking classes at the centre for 5 years and I absolutely love it! The quality of teaching is of very high standard, and teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and understanding. There are classes for all levels and the approach to yoga used at the centre is suitable for everyone, irrespective of age or level of fitness. Last but not least, the centre itself is a peaceful place, with the most relaxed and positive atmosphere. I would highly recommend Sheffield Yoga Centre, without hesitation!
I have been going to this centre for many, many years. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the venue has a calming feel and the teaching is superb. Frances and all the other teachers are so supportive and encouraging. As there are many different classes you can find the one that suits you without difficulty. You do not need to bring your own equipment as new mats, blocks, blankets, belts are there for everyone (and are cleaned after each class). I cannot recommend and praise Sheffield Yoga Centre strongly enough. It has supported me during recovery from mental illness and after my hip replacement and continues to give me strength and equilibrium.
This is a wonderful yoga centre with highly skilled and empathetic teachers. I have been attending a women’s intermediate class taught by Frances for many many years and love it. The Centre is light and airy and just being in this space makes me feel calm. Frances is extremely knowledgeable and excellent at giving helpful individual feedback to everyone in the class. She is able to offer adaptations to the poses to help with particular ailments or injuries. I wholeheartedly recommend the Sheffield Yoga Centre to beginners and the more experienced practitioner alike.
