I’ve been coming to Zagyoga for several years now. It’s been life changing for me. I had done yoga before but never Iyengar yoga. It’s so very different in the best way. Over the years I’ve had various injuries, frozen shoulder x 2, sciatica, a knee issue but I’ve still managed to come to yoga and participate with carefully thought out adjustments. Monica is inspiring, caring, and passionate. I attend on average 3 classes a week and it’s great to be taught by different teachers with their individual styles but the same philosophy, care and passion. No two classes are the same and I’m always learning. I feel the benefits every day. Strength, calm, flexibility, self awareness and gratitude. Joining the Zagyoga community was the best decision I think I’ve ever made.
Zag helped me back to health after years of cronic illness whcih I had healed some but still felt ground down generally, at zag I got my energy back. Monica has much knowledge of yoga always has an accommodation so even if you have issues with your body you can still get the most out of the pose. She has a million eyes and gets the best out of everyone in her class. I’ve become stronger taller and lost some weight from coming 4 times a week. I’m amazing at how much I have accomplished in such a short time. Zag is an amazing community of people everyone is so friendly and welcoming to me as well as hard working in class.
I started the Iyengar yoga classes with Monica about 2 months ago. I have been practicing many styles of yoga for about 8 years now (with allowances for having my daughter) but in February 2025 I shattered my left arm/shoulder really badly and stopped practicing as I could barely use it at all. When I moved to the Sheffield area I looked up for some ‘pay as you go’ classes as I wasn’t sure how I would manage. I’d never done Iyengar before. Monica was so extremely friendly and welcoming. She tailors the asanas perfectly throughout the whole class to allow for my limitations due to my shoulder. Her classes are of a good size so she can help everyone individually and I’ve honestly never used so many props in one class, I thought that type of chair was just for at school or garden parties! All equipment is provided so I don’t even have to take my mat. I remember some of Monika’s first words to me “you’re too young not to be able to use that arm properly. We will make sure we get in working in the RIGHT position/way”. Those words have certainly been true. Each week my shoulder mobility is increasing so much, and she keeps giving me exercises to do at home too. To be honest I really love Iyengar too, probably the most of all the different yoga practices. I can feel my muscles working in the right way and the posture adaptations make the muscle groups engage wonderfully. Ive been reaping the rewards to my mind too. Apparently I come out of classes beaming and full of energy (tired though as it’s a fab full body workout). Monica makes the classes fun and funny, and she never stops smiling. I would 100% recommend her and her classes 😊😀😁
Zag Yoga is a beautiful space and has become part of my new routine. As a beginner, I find Monica's friendly and knowledgeable teaching both encouraging and confidence-building! I really recommend the Wednesday Lunchtime express class for adding a moment of presence into your busy week! Thank you Monica!
I am really enjoying attending classes at Zag yoga. The classes are focused and intense but also energising. Monica is a great teacher and pays individual attention to her pupils. I would recommend it.
