After troubleshooting a misfire, hesitation, smoke for months at various garages, I was suggested by Honda specialists to bring my Civic DTEC to Wainwright Bros to diagnose. I had already spent close to £2k trying to resolve this at this point yet no closer to a diagnosis. Martin and Ryan gave me the time of day, visually and audibly inspected the car upon arrival and suspected a potential leaky injector. They showed me their injector testing rig which they were very proud of and I was booked in 2 weeks in advance. By the way, I've found that this piece of equipment is rare as no previous garages have one and nobody knew anybody with one Ryan assured me they'd update me as they worked on the car. They tested my injectors and found they were within tolerance at which point they noted that the injector seats on my Civic had carbon build up which they reseated (updating me on the process). They let me know I needed to buy 2x stretch bolts for the injector housing which are one time use and dangerous if not replaced, something no other garage had informed me of. Ultimately, the diagnosis was low compression in cylinder 4 upon idle, which they provided me a picometer report evidencing this. This was unfortunately not economical to repair. Their rate was reasonable and professionalism was solid. Martin + Ryan advised me of my options and I was finally left with closure on the issue. I wish I had found Wainwright Bros sooner.
