I was a patient at the Surgical Day Unit for an operation under local anaesthetic and the staff were absolutely fantastic. The consultant came to see me before the op and was so friendly I didn't feel anxious at all. All the staff in the operating theatre and Ward 20 were so helpful and approachable. Thank you very much. Airedale Hospital is the best I have ever been to and I've been to many.

My mother was rushed into hospital by the most marvellous paramedics we could wish for. She was very poorly when she arrived at hospital. It is worth pointing out that previous experience of the NHS has meant we were quite negative about the previous care we have had elsewhere. Our experience here has been totally amazing and the people in Keighley should really appreciate such a fantastic team. The care my mother received was second to none and they made her well very quickly. We feel safe in your care and thank you so much. We appreciate you greatly xxxxxxxxx

I had been meaning to write this review for a long time. A few years ago, we took my two year old daughter to the Haematology department for a blood test. The nurse who came to take her blood seemed to be in a hurry, but we didn’t complain because we understand how busy hospitals can be. She cleaned my daughter’s arm to draw blood, and from that moment things started to go wrong. She couldn’t find the vein and began poking around inside my daughter’s arm to search for it. My daughter was in extreme pain, and even though we were already holding her still, the nurse kept telling us sharply to hold her hand. You could hear the frustration and anger in her voice. After almost ten minutes of struggling, she still couldn’t find the vein. By then, my daughter was almost fainting from the pain. Another nurse then walked in and said to remove everything so they could start again. As parents, we were already terrified, but we felt we had no choice, so we allowed them to try again, this time with the second nurse. She repeated the same thing, poking around inside my little one’s hand while my daughter screamed in pain. Eventually, she managed to collect some blood, but when she pulled the needle out, she accidentally pressed the syringe and the blood spilled onto the floor. Both nurses looked at each other with an expression that clearly said, “What have we done after all this struggle?” But instead of acknowledging the mistake, one immediately covered for the other and claimed it happened because my daughter moved her hand which of course she did not because I was holding her hand firmly. She then said the remaining blood wasn’t enough and that we would have to come back again. Horrified, we left the department as quickly as we could. They didn’t know that I am an overseas doctor myself, and I swear I have never seen such incompetent staff who would even lie openly to protect themselves in case we raised the issue. Later, we booked an appointment at our GP surgery, and there, the nurse drew my daughter’s blood without a single problem. I’m not blaming the entire Haematology department, but I genuinely hope no child or parent ever has to deal with staff like the ones we encountered that day.

I was discharged from Airedale yesterday. I was admitted through A&E on Monday. I can not thank the staff enough. Within 1hr 45 mins was seen and had CT scan . I then had to wait for 5 hrs for a bed on the assessment ward but I couldn’t complain. The care I got was 10/10. Finally got moved to the ward where again the staff were amazing . The staff are under so much stress , negative comments don’t help but I couldn’t fault them at all. Thank you for everything you did for me
