Simon did a fantastic job restoring my Bonheur du Jour, an antique piece from the 1880's that had belonged to my mother-in-law and which has great sentimental value. Simon was courteous, understanding and did a sympathetic and timely restoration according to my wishes. I am going to engage him again for my mother's Ercol!
I can't praise Stephen highly enough! I have recently taken a 250-year old longcase clock case to him for restoration. The case was very shabby and neglected and needed several minor repairs, and a complete refinish. Stephen has carried these out to an impressively high standard and has achieved a quality of finish that I could hardly imagine, or think possible. At the same time the restoration has been carried out tastefully, respecting and enhancing the item as an antique. Fantastic work, highly recommended!
I contacted Stephen in August 2023 to ask if he could return some Ercol furniture back to how I remember it from the mid 1970’s. I lost my mum in January this year and this was our family dining table and chairs. So many memories. Stephen collected the furniture at the end of September from my late mum’s home and delivered it back to my home in Burnley mid December. I have added before and after photos to show how wonderful the restored furniture is. We’re absolutely delighted with the end result and thank you Stephen for removing all that dark brown stain my dad used back in the 1990’s obscuring that beautiful wood.
Asked Stephen to sympathetically repair and restore my wife’s grandfathers work desk. He did a fantastic job that retained the character and individual character of this desk, in doing so he addressed the structural and aesthetic issues. Before and after pictures. Totally recommend!
I contacted Stephen Hamilton at The Furniture Repair Shop in Autumn 2023 to completely restore a very sentimental piece of furniture. This old haberdashery unit had once belonged to my late father and used in his workshop. After many years in his cellar, it was in need of some TLC. It was daubed with paint; a drawer was missing as were some fixtures and some woodwork needed repairing. Stephen quickly responded to my initial enquiry with a quote for a full restoration. He booked in a time for the collection of the piece and later updated me with how the restoration was going and when the piece would be ready for delivery. He made and replaced the missing drawer and sourced its matching handle, replaced the missing and broken glass, repaired the woodwork then fully cleaned and repolished the unit from top to bottom. I’ve recently taken delivery of the piece and I’m absolutely delighted with the work he has done. If you have a piece of furniture that you would like lovingly restored, I heartily recommend contacting Stephen Hamilton at The Furniture Repair Shop for a quote. 10/10 for service and craftmanship.
