We ventured out into the center of Skipton on a Saturday night for the first time in a very long time tonight to see my wife's friend John and his amazing swing jive band 'Jump Jive & Wail' in the Speakeasy bar. The Speakeasy is a small bar in the same building that used to house the Sound Bar, which has since relocated to a much larger building around the corner next to the town's bus station. It's a cosy, bustling, welcoming bar with a very good selection of spirits, wines, draft & hand pulled beers - my wife enjoyed a very good pint of Guinness and I had 1/2 pint of a very light & fruity IPA beer. They have live bands playing most Friday & Saturday evenings and we went there tonight to watch the amazing swing jive band 'Jump Jive & Wail'. The band were very well received by the customers in the bar with a very good dance couple leading the jive & swing dancing in the very tight space in front of the band at the back end of the bar. Their leader and keyboard player is a very long time friend of my wife's family and we have been to see his band playing many times before and obviously had to go and support them when they were playing in our home town of Skipton. Although wheelchair users would be able to gain access into the ground floor bar the toilets are located on the first floor and only accessible up a very narrow and steep stairway. There's no on street parking outside the bar, however there's free on street parking in the main high street and a large paid car park next to the town's bus station, both very nearby.
A brilliant micropub in the centre of Skipton. Really couldn't fault the place. Lovely owners who were happy to chat away and share their micropub owning experience. Great local beers, cracking wine and spirits selection too. Very clean toilets as well! Highly recommend.
First time in this bar in Skipton. Pretty good range of cask beers and reasonably priced. It was quiet when we went in so we couldn't score higher for that reason. We will definitely go back next time we're in town.
Great 1920s style bar in the heart of Skipton. Smartly theme dressed friendly staff. Live music. Saw excellent local band No Big Deal here, will definitely be back for them!
Didn't eat here. A quirky bar that has live music on a regular basis. Friendly staff. Good variety of drinks. Locals were chatty.
