Wonderful place, much bigger than you think. Really great atmosphere, and sadly, there is no live music on for our trip, but it looks like it would be a great vibe.
Nothing wrong with it here.....just not my preference. Way too small for the amount of people who had been let in which meant the bar staff couldn't keep up, you couldn't get to the bar anyway because people were rammed in like sardines, and the people who did manage to get a drink ended up spilling it because they were inevitably knocked in to as they tried to leave the bar. We ended up selling in the smoking area, despite not smoking as it was the only place that we could find where there was enough room to actually sit or stand together. I like busy bars with a decent atmosphere but not so busy that you have to plan a toilet visit 20 minutes in advance just to give yourself time to swim upstream to reach the toilet in time. That said, a member of staff said that they're not usually quite this busy but they had a large party in so it may be slightly better normally.
There several excellent micro bars in Skipton and this canal side bar is one of them. The interior is cosy whilst a large outside area is currently covered for protection from the elements. I had a lovely pint of Jericho Blond by Settle brewery. Had a lovely chat with friendly locals.
Absolutely love The Mess Room Bar, the ambience and staff are just superb, the sheppys cider is great and the cocktails are amazing, the spicy Margarita (pictured) and the penicillin were just fantastic. It's our favourite bar in Skipton, and there are some good contenders.
We had our sons pre wedding night function there and they were brilliant, good service and very on the ball, my son hired a great singer and everyone was dancing, well done to the staff 👍
