We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at this fantastic pub today. It was quite busy due to the Christmas market, but we were fortunate to grab a table. The atmosphere is genuinely old-world and a refreshing change from typical chain establishments. The staff were excellent—very helpful and efficient. The location is beautiful, even on a rainy December day, and I can only imagine how perfect it is in the summer. The food was good and satisfying, but perhaps didn't quite reach the 'excellent' mark. Highly recommended for a true pub feel.

Proper pub food cooked really well. Friendly staff. Great value for money. So much so that we went twice in one week! No pics of the roasts though as I forgot (but it was the first time we've not had to ask for extra gravy!) They have a good haunting story too... Would definitely go again if we are back up that way.

What a gem! We came in to get out of the foul weather. It was quiet but very friendly and warm. The staff were so nice and chatted to us about the pub and also loved our little dog. They poured the perfect pint too! More people need to discover the place as it deserves to be a great success! Highly recommended and of course dog friendly!

Had a wake here for our lovely little Mo. Typical yorkshire pub - very friendly. Food nice & hot even had chips - spot-on - went down a treat ;) Outside is the view of the canal. Idle place to go if you want to be in the middle of skipton town centre 😀

Never, ever seen service like this before . Bar staff were grumpy and aggressive when we ordered. Staff would not discuss a problem, just dictated what we had to do to put it right! Landlord was bullying, verbally abusive and physically threatening We ordered and definitely paid for 5 meals and 5 drinks for our family (including two children). Only 4 meals arrived, when we enquired after the fifth one we were informed that we had only ordered 4 and wouldn’t get another unless we paid for it (which I did as it was obviously going to be an issue and one member of our family was without a meal). We were then told by an older member of staff that we had been rude to our servers (nearby tables assured us we had not been). The fifth meal came and my son had just started eating it when the landlord appeared from upstairs and started ranting that we had been rude to his staff. It was impossible to get a word in edgeways and then he grabbed my sons meal (that we had paid for twice) and two drinks and took them away, He then came back and ordered us all out. I can tell you we willingly left and will not return. The food we were allowed to eat was good, unfortunately the kitchen are being badly let down by front of house. Whoever runs this establishment need to get a refund from whoever provided their customer service training! I have waited 3 weeks before I posted this review because I wanted to do it calmly and objectively. I am 70 years old and had never been thrown out of a pub before, and am still at a loss to know how and why this happened.
