A lovely Cask Marque pub a short walk up from the centre. Making a first ever visit here with Madge. Four real ales. I had the Happy Valley 4% Pale by Riverhead brewery. Proper pub with a rear beer patio. Great beer and service.

Firstly, if you think you’ll get anything to eat at Shepherds rest, you won’t. They don’t serve food. But they still have their menu on their website We had room 6 on the top floor, exposed roof beams which we banged our heads on a few times.the futon that our kids slept on had a non existent mattress and they woke up with sore backs. There was something in the en-suite that smelt awful, we can only guess it was probably the plug in the shower. Cobwebs and some old used hair bands behind the bed. One tea bag and three sachets of milk. My wife likes her tea and had to get some teabags and milk from the shop up the road. You have to leave your keys in a postbox outside the back door. Something we were never told. A couple of positives. Our kids treated it like a little holiday. The lady behind the bar about 2pm was welcoming and the lady serving later was friendly.. we only had to go up the road to steep lane Baptist church, where we were scattering my dads ashes.

Lovely place, just a short distance from the town. The room was very nice. The double bed was very comfortable but the smaller bed was not. It would benefit having a shelf in the bathroom. But overall, a great place and would definitely stay again.

We were welcomed by the bar maid on arrival and when asked if we could park our motorbike in the beer garden they were very happy for us to fo do. The room was was very clean and comfortable. The bar maid gave us lots of options of where we could eat which was much appreciated. A great overnight stay. Would recommend this great place
