Just got back after spending 5 nights here while training for new job. Couldn't fault the hotel, hotel room was good nice and clean comfy bed fluffy pillows, room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and tea station restocked all staff we're lovely nothing to much trouble, pool was a bonus while staying in the hotel pool towels provided. Nice hot full English breakfast aswell as a continental one. Pub onsite had plenty of choice food was delicious.
My parents stayed a few nights during a house move, rooms are quite old fashioned but great when you're wanting effective but reasonable priced, breakfast is cereal and toast and a hot food selection, inc scrambled or fried eggs, even black pudding! For the price, you can't fall off really, there are much more expensive options in the town if you want latest, smart and new tech but if you want warm and decent, this is fine :) Free parking outside and free WiFi inside the hotel which is essential as I got ZERO phone signal inside the room Disabled access rooms available, some disabled parking spaces outside the main door and a ramp leading up to the doors
Just been tonight for the christmas meal and disco. Honestly the food was abysmal. Christmas dinner without a yorkshire, no salt and pepper, very dry chicken and a distinct lack of roasties or pigs in blankets. Is not christmas dinner, As for the tart we got for desert? What can I say, most of us left it but agreed that the ice cream at least was edible.. Stuck around for about 10 minutes of what felt like kids entertainment at butlins before I ducked out and went home for a takeaway. 1 star out of 10.. would not recommend. Even at only £25 I felt robbed.
This is a really difficult review as it was for a wedding being held at the Lodge. So the review is just for the hotel and experience of booking. The GOOD... The price is reasonable, if you go direct you might get a little discount. There I a gym and a pool on site. The BAD... I booked a room in May for September, as it was for a wedding I got a discount, so I went for an executive room. The room was not executive, it was a standard double. I checked the week before about the bookings, I was told I had booked for 2 nights which was what I wanted. When I turned up, they could not find my Friday booking... Then I realised they had only put 1 down on the booking, when it was an exec room for both me and my wife as it was a wedding. Finally on the last day they charged me for a breakfast, as there was only 1 on the booking, which again was there mistake. I spoke to the receptionist who said she couldn't do nothing and the supervisor would ring me back. That did happen... They did refund me, but it was a lot of hassle.
Stayed for one night, clean spacious room. Breakfast was much better than anticipated as the literature said continental when full English was available too. All staff were very friendly. Amazing value for money.
