Lovely hotel, we had a large family room that was more like an apartment, lots of space for two adults and two children. Nice and quiet too, but still easily within reach of York city centre by car. We arrived quite late but the owner was brilliant, let us in without any fuss then left us to it in our room, just as we needed. We'd definitely stay here again!
Claire was there to welcome us to her B&B the room we had was more than adequate for our needs. If you want a base to use whilst we are visiting York the rooms are perfect for that. You can have a double room or you can have a family room with a little kitchenette that allows you the freedom to cook your own meals. The rooms were adequate for our needs the breakfast was lovely too all three parties who stayed here were happy and would go back.
We stayed in Rose Cottage on Saturday 23 March at the Orillia. The location is superb, a short bus drive out of York on the 848, you can get a return ticket for Β£4,. The village itself is pristine, the roads are not busy, very quiet and remote. There are no shops close by, so get your food and drink in York before you check in, unless you fancy another trip to York! The cottage itself was home from home. The decor and furnishing lovey and comfortable. Central heating and instant hot water. The shower too was a bonus - one of the best showers I've been in! We used the oven, hob and microwave without any problems, however the cutlerey was on the sparce side but I am sure if we'd asked we could have had more if we needed it. Plenty of clean towels. The bed was very comfortable. We will be going back there for another quiet weekend break for sure, but next time we will stay for longer :-)
Love Orilla House. Gary n Claire always make us feel at home and very accommodating. Gorgeous little cottages. Very clean and comfortable. Easy parking and a very short walk to the bus stop for York city and the pub (Fox Inn) just across the road. Have stayed here now 4 times in 4 years with my 2 girl friends when traveling from Australia. Thx Claire love Jo Therese n Karen
A brilliant place to stay if you are visiting the York area with a car. The family who run the guest house and cottages are very friendly and helpful. It might be a little too remote for some but we prefer to be out of York so it is ideal. It is very close to the A64 and the Monks Cross Park and Ride.
