Tried to book this site a few times, first time requested me to call back or text details. Heard back later that evening and poor communication resulted in us looking elsewhere. Second time lack of communication and again requested us to text details over. Eventually spoke to the owner and mentioned we wouldn’t be checking in until around 8pm as arriving from far away. His moody, tone and lack of understanding resulted in us saying we would go elsewhere as this place seems unfriendly and unaccommodating. Poor experience through initial communication, general questions and then when trying to book.
I'd give it more stars coz it is a nice place and the owner is a good lad; but... you can't let dog off lead, which is understandable coz of the rabbits and birds and size of the site (quite small). You have to get in your car to find somewhere to let dog off lead. The road outside the site was too noisy for me (tent) as I had to use toilet role in my ears as I'm a light sleeper. Positives are the owner and his knowledge and helpfulness, locality to york, park and ride, local pubs and supermarkets. It has a nice fishing lake if you want to fish. The pictures are 6am in the morning when some hot air balloons passed directly overhead.
A very beautiful place to stay with the family, great showers etc, included a station to wash your pots and separate bins for recycling which was beautiful to see. A lovely fishing area and a fairy garden which is always great for the kids.
We usually go camping with a tent every chance we get ...but we decided to try a bit of glamping. The pods are brilliant. Especially if you want a quick get away. Lovely and clean. Peter is lovely, calls you the day before with help and directions and when you get there has a vast knowledge of York and the surrounding areas. Lovely little fishing lake on site and it's very clean and peaceful. We will definitely be going back. Thank you
Blown away by the site to be honest! We've been camping for many years now and we've been to some really nice sites but Wagtail Park completely raised the bar and has set new standards for us! The site is absolutely immaculate, mannicured infact! There was no litter anywhere and there is a well signed area for recycling. The shower and toilet block was clean and tidy and I never had to wait for a shower. The fishing lake was superb and we caught a variety of coarse fish. The fish were all in absolutely pristine condition and it was lovely to see. And then there is the owner, Peter. Wow, he really understands customer service and customer experience! He was there to greet us and gave us the most informative talk on the local knowledge and the "do's and don't's" in the local area. Peter came round during our stay to make sure everything was ok and you just knew that if there was a problem he'd sort it. It's sad to say that not many people or businesses understand customer service these day's but Peter goes out of his way to deliver what I call good, old fashioned customer service. If you watch him during the day he works tirelessly ensuring the park is kept immaculate and it really shows. I would have absolutely no hesitation in booking Wagtail Park again and it's not very often that I want to return to a campsite. Not necessarily because they are bad but because I like trying new places, Wagtail Park however, I will be back! Incredible site, so peaceful, you will not be disappointed!
