A unique B&B! Four of us stayed here while walking the Coast-to-Coast path. Dave picked us up when we got off the path at Clay Bank Top, took us to the B&B so we could shower, then to a nearby pub so we could eat. We had a delicious dinner before Dave drove us back to the B&B. The following morning after a substantial breakfast he returned us to the trail so that we could continue our walk where we had left off. Wish we had more time to enjoy his gorgeous garden and the Lady Marmalade roses!
Excellent room, excellent host. Dave picked us up from the coast to coast trail, took us back for tea and biscuits, drove us to the pub for delicious dinner and then back to the trail the next morning. In between time gave me a tour of his rose garden. Huge, comfortable room and bed. Delicious breakfast. Overall, fantastic stay.
Stayed here on a coast to coast walk. The owner, Dave, runs a fantastic B&B with lots of personal attention given. The location is very pastoral, with wonderful views of the countryside. He is very willing ferry you to/from hiking spots, dinner and the inevitable pub.
Just call it “Dave’s Place”. Dave is a genial, helpful host. Unpretentious and pleasant to be around. Just like his B&B. Old, comfortable furnishings make you feel like you’re visiting family. The cup of tea after picking us up at Clay Bank Top was most welcome. Our room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Dave took all seven of us (three couples and a solo walker) to the Black Swan for dinner and we had an amazing time. Great food and company! We would stay here again without hesitation. Thanks for everything, Dave!
Dave is an engaging and very welcoming host. The building and fittings are a little rundown but the room was a good size and the bathroom was functional. There is a comfortable common sitting room with a huge tv. Breakfast was good and provided in a room with another huge tv. The location is a little way from the nearest dinner provider, which could be an issue for walkers, but Dave is willing to drive you to and pickup from his recommended sites. The grounds around the property are lovely.
