OYO The Leven

Booked a stay, based on photos shown on their website. Mistake! Room wasn’t modernised so was v dated, sink cracked and posing a hazard, bugs crawling round the bath, blind (bathroom) shredded and toilet by the window so was risky. No staff on reception. The pub noise was unbearable as we were directly above the bar and music went on until gone 2. Room overlooked pub entrance so smoking area & the delight of someone throwing up under our window after one too many. No parking, even though advertised. Is permit zone outside for maximum 2 hrs. Location was a positive as in the town centre so everything within a walk/easy reach.

Wonderful Christmas dinner from The Leven. Delicious food, great value for money and still piping hot when delivered to my home. Great customer service from friendly staff. Perfect for Christmas day 😀👍

Pretty poor experience. Whilst the check in service, location & rooms were good, this was let down by a poor nights sleep. When you are due to get up at 6am to do the Great North Run, being kept awake well past 4am by staff having a lock in beneath your room is poor form. Was going to book a group of 8 again in November, now considering alternatives.

Lovely, wonderful staff. The food is great too. But my experience wasn't perfect. I had planned to stay from Thursday to Monday morning but on Friday afternoon, I was informed that that price of my room had changed from £60 ro £85. But that's not all, my room hadn't been vacuumed (ever?) so on Friday morning I enquired as to whether a vacuum cleaner was available. I was told it was being used by the house keeper upstairs. Funny that because there was only me and two others staying in the hotel. Not long after, the vacuum cleaner was dropped off at my room and I vacuumed it myself. But that's not all, I almost had to beg for more soap, water and general room service. What kind of donkey and pony show is this? So I found myself somewhere else to stay and left Saturday morning.

NEVER EVER make the mistake of booking with OYO. If you want to cancel, you will never get a refund. We have been waiting for SIX weeks now for a refund on cancelled rooms, and every time we call them, the answer is "we're really sorry, there has been a technical issue, we will refund you immediately but it will take 10-14 days". Well guess what, we are still waiting. Approximately £450 that my parents paid then cancelled in July, and here we are in September, and still no further forward. Spoke to them today and got the same "really sorry, 10-14 days" etc etc. Clearly they don't want to refund the money, and stall and delay, and then do it all again, hoping you will give up. Well I'm not going to! If you don't believe me, look at their Trustpilot reviews - horrendous. Do not give these people a penny of your money.
