Scenic little valley offering a short but enjoyable walk just outside the grounds of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens. A well maintained path passes between rocky cliffs, crossing over picturesque bridges. At the upper end of the valley a stream adds to the view, but further down the water disappears (I visited after a spell of warm weather in May). The surrounding area of Studley Royal Deer Park is free to visit, but parking is expensive for the time you'll spend here. That is unless you're intending to visit Fountains Abbey and the water gardens. Entry is charged, but free for members of the National Trust or English Heritage, and there's a lot worth seeing to justify the price.
Pretty short walk we did as part of our trip to Fountains Abbey. Shame there wasn't much water in the stream but some very beautiful old trees and pretty views. Parking available close by with pay and display for £6 or free for National trust members.
Lovely walk along the river, even if the river ran dry! We did find a part that still had running water which my dog was very pleased about. Nice walk not too strenuous.
Well isn't that a surprise. Didn't know it had this name until now. We visited Studley Royal Deer Park for a nice family walk and ended up on this route. It was so peaceful just us and nature, loved it.
Lovely walk ..there's a cafe and toilets at the start of the walk..geese and deers strolling about would recommend for everyone to enjoy
