Two Americans walk into a pub in a small town…. My traveling partner and I enjoy beer… So of course we wanted to see the home of Samuel Smith while we were nearby. We took the bus out from York. We were glad to see this pub was open. It was about 3pm. Beer was fabulous, The men that were in there were friendly (I think) lol. I think they were a little surprised to have strangers from America drop in. It was very local . it was difficult at times to understand their English, we just mainly behaved ourselves and drank a few beers. We got a little bit of local information about the brewery and things about pub ownership and management etc. Which is very different from the United States. The beer was extremely delicious! The atmosphere unique and I would definitely stop by again if I was in that area. Absolute gentleman running it.
Traditional pub with good Samuel Smiths ale. Proper boozer. No distractions from digital devices also.
Looking forward to this lovely pub opp the john smiths brewery which has policy of no mobile phones inside of the pub.. so outside had no covering from rain . It was dry so no problem .
Wonderful little place to visit for a pint . Very friendly and accommodating staff , good beer and prices . Honestly can't recommend enough.
Not very friendly, asked for a towel to wipe a wet seat and felt uncomfortable asking, like I was putting him out, also both drinks were flat
