Howgrave Lodge Cattery

Our cats have gone here many times now and they are always so well cared for and come home happy and looking great. Ira takes amazing care of the cats and the facilities that they stay in. Highly recommend.

We recently booked our cats, Pepper and Lynx in for 3 nights after having Ira highly recommended, it was the first time our cats had been in a cattery and I was so nervous and worried but Ira was so lovely and kind and reassuring, answered all my questions and made me feel so at ease. When we got there to drop them off I felt even more relaxed about it all seeing how relaxed the other cats were! We were able to take things from home to help them both. We knew Lynx would struggle most as he’s very timid but he did ok and Pepper was absolutely fine after a day or so! Ira kindly sent updates via WhatsApp as well. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Ira again and know our cats are so well looked after and safe when we are away which is all that we wanted. Would highly recommend, thank you! Xx

My cat has stayed with Ira at Howgrave on plenty of occasions now and cannot recommend any more highly. If you're looking at other well reviewed catteries, don't bother and pick this one. I recently had to place my cat in a different cattery in Darlington (very last minute and unfortunately Howgrave was unavailable) and my cat has came back a bit of a nervous wreck. Any time I have picked him up from Ira's he has been so content and happy. Ira is absolutely amazing at taking the time to update you with pictures and videos of how your furr ball is getting on, and I highly doubt you'd find anywhere else in the vicinity with cat pens as big as the ones here - the outdoor space is brilliant. Truly deserving of 5 stars.

Just had my kittens in overnight and as first time pet owners, we were both very nervous to leave them overnight. We didn't need to be, they were in very safe hands! The room they were in is spacious, clean and filled with fun for our cats stay. The lady who runs the cattery was very thorough on making sure all the basic vet procedures had been followed (worm, flea, vaccines etc) and went out of her way to make sure our kittens dietary needs were taken care of (as their diet is very specific). We even had regular photo and video updates throughout the stay which helped us to relax knowing our cats were well taken care of. Will definitely be back for our next trip. Thank you so much again for looking after them for us 😀

My cat was a resident for several days and it was his first time anywhere without me. I was initially (and remain) very impressed with the cattery and Ira. My cat looked very well when I returned to pick him up. I was a bit nervous about leaving him but Ira has a lovely manner and it was really nice to meet someone with both a passion for cats and knowledge of them and their needs. I would have no hesitation to place my cat there again. He had an indoor chalet and seems to have been very happy with that as he could sit in his box on the shelf and watch the bird life in the hedge he could see from the window. He could get out of sight if he wanted. When I came to collect him he was fast asleep, always a good sign.
