I’ve been living at Derwent Oaks Lake and Country Park for just over half a year now, and overall, it’s been a peaceful and rewarding experience. Nestled on the edge of the countryside but still within reach of the town, this park strikes a good balance between rural tranquility and convenience. The surroundings are lovely—plenty of trees, well-kept green spaces, and walking paths that are ideal for dog owners like me. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, mostly occupied by friendly retirees and couples who appreciate a slower pace of life. The lodge itself is very modern and comfortable. It feels more like a small bungalow than a lodge. The layout is smart and spacious, with an open-plan living area, up-to-date kitchen appliances, and even an en-suite bathroom. The heating works very well in the winter, and in the summer I enjoy relaxing on my private deck with a cup of coffee with a lakeside view and an abundance of wildlife in front of me. One of the biggest highlights for me is the range of on-site activities. There’s never a dull moment if you enjoy the outdoors. The park has its own lake where you can go kayaking, paddle boarding, or just cast a line for a relaxing afternoon of fishing. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or just fancy giving it a go, it’s an amazing way to unwind and soak in the beauty of the surroundings. On sunny days, the water is especially inviting—it feels more like a weekend getaway than your everyday backyard.

What an absolutely fantastic place to call home, a small lodge site perched on top of a lake with fantastic out stretched landscape views, surrounded by quaint litte villages. The choice of lodges to place is whatever you fancy in line with the protocol of the site. The owners are building a small community environment atmosphere providing a bar/ restaurant as well as 2 well stocked fishing lakes I can't wait to move in.

Really glad I found this lovely, peaceful park after looking at quite a lot, this was the best by far :) Joanne was brilliant showing us around and answering all our many questions! The ground staff and people staying on the park are also really friendly and very welcoming. (There's even a resident Peacock named Pierre!). Being a keen bird-watcher I was amazed by the number of birds I could see and hear in and around the beautiful blue lake and surrounding countryside. What's so great about this place is not only all this on your doorstep (as well as nature reserves such as Wheldrake Ings and Skipwith Common up the road) the beautiful city of York is only a 15 minute drive away. So it's the best of both worlds! Jenny and I really look forward to staying in our new lakeside lodge very soon :)
