Cracking old cinema. A lovely change from the sterile multiplexes. I got a warm welcome from the voluntary staff and pleasant surprise entering a very well preserved and comfortable auditorium. The quality of the projection and sound was first class too. I only wish I lived closer so it could be my 'local'
Amazing little Cinema, only had 1 choice of film and absolutely loved it. Not from the area, so not sure if we will be back but totally encourage others to come. Easy parking, very reasonably priced, great snacks, comfy seats.
Like many other reviews it's a shame popcorn, hot and cold drinks and other snacks arnt available. Drinks are only at shelf temperature. Would love to see an old Automaticket system fitted at the pay box and the distinct Clunk sound they make. Have ever thought of 2 shows per evening by having family and drama early and more adult orientated films later. What about a Children's Matinee Club on a Saturday Afternoon. With celebration at birthdays and a Christmas party for kids in December I'm sure it would be a success based on Star Saturday Cinema and ABC Minors club from the past.
What a delightful old cinema. The volunteers are very friendly and have really done this old cinema proud. Plenty of legroom, choice of stalls or balcony, attractive decor. For the hard of hearing like me, it was a pleasure as the sound system was excellent, clear but not overloud (clarity is required not volume). I didn't need their hearing loop but it worked incredibly well - better than some West End theatres and modern cinemas. On Sundays they even show subtitles. Thank you for a pleasurable experience.
Beautiful little cinema in Thirsk North Yorkshire. Makes you feel like you've gone back to the 1920s . Will definitely be going back soon , loved it .
