The Robert Fuller Gallery
About
Description
Robert Fuller is one of Britain’s foremost wildlife artists. He paints in acrylics and oils, favouring a highly-detailed realistic style.
Robert’s reputation for authenticity is second to none. He goes to extraordinary lengths to accurately reflect the behaviour and character of his wild subjects – and spends months in the field painstakingly studying a particular animal or bird before settling down to paint it back in his studio.
Regarded as an expert on wildlife matters, Robert regularly features on television and his unique footage of animal behaviour have been broadcast on primetime channels, including BBC Springwatch and Countryfile . He also writes a regular wildlife column in the Yorkshire Post.
Robert’s intimate understanding of British wildlife was undoubtedly shaped by his upbringing on a farm on the Yorkshire Wolds, close to where he still lives, and many of his paintings feature the wildlife he finds on his doorstep.
But his scope is global and each year he travels the world to study different wildlife in its native habitat.
A Robert E Fuller painting is increasingly collectible the world over. Every year some 7,000 visitors make their way to his gallery in Thixendale on the Yorkshire Wolds to see his paintings, limited edition prints and sculpture. Visitors also get to look into his studio where his photographs are also on show and to view wildlife on screens through live cameras he has hidden in animal nests in his garden.
Robert is also an accomplished wildlife photographer. Although his photographs are primarily used as studies for his paintings, a series he took of a family of weasels won him the British Seasons category in the Wildlife Photography Awards in 2016.
Robert holds two art exhibitions a year, one in the summer and one in winter during which he also displays his photographic studies and hosts nature events such as guided walks, bird watching and evening talks on wildlife topics.
