Called in here just by chance, using maps places to eat near me. First off, it was a cold, grey day and right by the river so it wasn't overly warm but the pleasant atmosphere overcame that feeling. The food was good and reasonably priced. The service was also good. This is a cash is king cafe - and in this day and age of banks taking their percentage- why not? Unfortunately we didn't note that on entry and swipe cards aren't accepted. Their is provisional to do a cash transfer, so all ended well.

Delicious food, excellent, helpful and friendly staff. Lovely views across the river. I cannot recommend this place enough! The food is high quality and home made. Steak pie and homemade chips were spot on. Homemade mushroom soup and warm crispy baguette was delicious. Really good value for money. The lady was extremely helpful when asked about disabled access, she gave helpful advice for me to access the place easily. We will be back! I 100% recommend this place.

What a lovely cafe/bistro on the waters edge. Struck gold today after dropping my car at Teesside Audi and enjoying a walk along the Tees to get to Thornaby for the train back to Seaton. Gorgeous breakfasts and other meals being served. I opted for a sausage baguette, cappuccino and a takeaway piece of sprinkle cake as it was 10.30am and I had been walking for nearly 2 hours. The staff were amazing and presented me with a water bowl for the dog and such a large baguette I saved half of it for the journey home. Thankyou everyone, we will be back soon

A lot of chatter about this place so thought I’d give it a go. Called in and it was quite busy but had no issues getting a table, staff were quick in getting the order and the food was served sometime later. Breakfast was really nice, fresh and piping hot so no issues there. Drinks were served almost straight away which on a personal level is frustrating as most times, including this time, I had finished the drink before the food arrived. My only quibbles were the noise coming from the kitchen which was a few decibels short of a Greek plate smashing wedding ceremony. This was evident in our cups as they were covered in chips which wasn’t very appealing. Once we had finished the food we got the impression that we had to leave as the table was cleared as my other half was finishing her drink. Apart from that we would call again as the food was very tasty.

The English breakfast was indeed as everyone on here said - very nice. I have never been able to eat black pudding as I didn't like the way it looks like, and yet in this place I was able to eat it and it was very nice.
