Severn Glocon’s new engineering centre of excellence

First up, Severn Glocon, a world leader in industrial valve engineering, has taken 2,460 sq ft at Crossley Mill to open its new Engineering Centre of Excellence. This is a big deal for the company. It will be the hub for developing next generation valve technologies that meet the highest industry standards. Think future tech and engineering at the boundaries—happening in Halifax.

Jonny Walker, UK Engineering Director at Severn Glocon says:

“This will be the hub of our next generation of innovation… It’s a big investment in our people and processes, in engineering excellence.”

The centre isn’t just about new tech; it’s also a place to train and upskill engineers. The company will use the space to develop talent so they can stay at the top of their game for years to come.

Simply Paving

And Simply Paving isn’t to be left out. They’re moving in too. The 1,918 sq ft office in F Mill will be their new HQ. Simply Paving, part of global construction giant Holcim, supply Bradstone paving and landscaping products to trade professionals and everyday customers across the UK from their new base.

Why Dean Clough?

Dean Clough isn’t an office park. It’s got history, character and modernity. Set in refurbished mill buildings, the complex offers energy efficient Grade A space from 50 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft. The latest addition, Bowling Mill, has 54,768 sq ft of space over five floors with energy efficient heating and cooling systems.

But it’s not just the space. Dean Clough is a mini world of its own. Imagine a place where you can get a coffee, go to the gym, take your child to the on site creche and maybe even catch a show at the theatre—all without leaving the site. There are:

  • Cafes, bars and restaurants.
  • Beauty salons and wellbeing centres.
  • Art galleries and a theatre.

Jeremy Hall, Chairman and MD of Dean Clough Ltd says:

“We truly believe that a diverse amenity and cultural experience… is so important in creating the environment that people want to come to and work in.”

A location with city benefits

Dean Clough isn’t just lovely; it’s convenient. It’s just near Halifax town centre so it’s easy to get to. The M62 is 15 minutes away and there are direct trains to Leeds, Manchester, York and even London. It’s like having the benefits of a big city without the hassle – or the price tag.

A Halifax win

Getting two global companies in one go is a big win for Halifax and Calderdale. Dean Clough already has around 150 businesses and 3,000 employees on site including big names like Covea Insurance and Activate Group. These two new additions only add to the site’s reputation as a home for big business.

Dean Clough isn’t just somewhere to work – it’s somewhere to flourish. With its blend of heritage, technology and community it’s no wonder global businesses are moving in. If Halifax wasn’t on your list before, it should be now.
