Rishworth Baxter Accountants

I have used Rishworth Baxter accountancy as a small limited creative company for 3 years and they have been a wonderful support. I don’t have much time on my hands as a director, doer and everything else that goes along with running a business. The support is such a relief throughout the year but especially when filing accounts and handling tax returns. I have never missed a deadline thanks to the team at Rishworth Baxter and feel like the load is lifted which means i can get on with creating more content. Accounting is not my strength but with a combination of Quick Books and R&B everything always gets done. Thanks so much. Mark

Would really advise you not to go with Rishworth Baxter. They are not regulated or part of a registered body. We were sold a great service for a more competitive price for both accounts and payroll so we moved over to them in October 2016. What a mistake. The customer service throughout has been appalling but got progressively worse. When we requested for them to register us for VAT they back date it a year (having not told us the previous year had been over the tax threshold) which led to an investigation. Despite having insurance included in our service for them to handle this, they decided to lie to both us and HMRC, constantly extending deadlines to then do nothing and let them pass with no contact to HMRC or us, no information I sent was passed on and no effort was made to actually help or advise us. We would email and call 10's of times a day to get no response. They left us to deal with this ourselves despite probably claiming a fortune from the insurance. Even our new accountants said the customer service to switch over to them had been awful. I have complained directly to them and been fobbed off twice now that they will get back to me, last time was 3 weeks ago and still no response so now we are left with no option but to warn others as they chose not to deal with our genuine concerns over the service provided directly. I am going through Trading Standards and CAB but would like to tell anyone thinking of using their services, don't bother!

I switched to RW following disappointment and poor communication from my previous accountant. By and large, things went well. I got the advice I required, although communication was not always prompt. In fact, sometimes I struggled to get a reply. RW registered me for VAT and soon increased their fees to the top end of my budget. I was further stretched when they (with my agreement admittedly) added management accounts fees. Added to my actual VAT bills, these charges almost made me go bust. I switched from RW to another accountant. I never recieved any management accounts, or a refund for services paid for but not provided, despite asking. I also requested a refund of accountancy fees for my final period with them during which no service was provided but as yet I have received no response. I dont feel this accountancy practice looked out for my best interests. My new account charges me half the amount, restructured my business so VAT-able income is reduced, reclaimed most of a mis-calculated VAT return and is very responsive. O can now look forward to the future with optimism, knowing that my accountant isn't trying to plot my demise and squeezing me for every last penny in the process. Apart from that the staff at RW were quite pleasant to talk to.

I've been using Rishworth Baxter now for the last 5 years from when i started off as a sole trader to now having a limited company and i've had no trouble what so ever with their service, from Communicating with the office staff via phone and email to the several meetings i've had with different members of staff. Every piece of advise they've given me has been calculated for the companies best interest, i've had all fee's thoroughly explained to me before signing anything (sometimes having them explained several times just to make sure i fully understand) and i've always had my questions answered with every option explained clearly to me. Without Rishworth Baxter my business would have died and i wouldn't be doing what i love to do. I've even recommended them to family and friends! Definitely worth using for the honest advise!
