Avoid Hays Travel Wakefield – completely unreliable and stressful! We booked our honeymoon through Hays Travel Wakefield, hoping for peace of mind and professional support for a long-haul trip. Instead, we experienced stress, chaos, and shocking incompetence from start to finish. The day before our 12-day holiday to Bali, we received an email at 5:30 PM titled “Holiday to Bali URGENT!” and a call at the same time. The call went straight to voicemail, leaving us unable to get in touch. The email, sent by Emma from the branch, stated our flight was cancelled but gave no clear details. The itinerary she sent was completely wrong, showing flights via Shanghai instead of our correct route via Hong Kong: Manchester – Hong Kong, 15th August, 11:10 – 06:45 Hong Kong – Shanghai, 16th August, 20:55 – 00:50 Shanghai – Bali, 17th August, 06:20 – 09:00 We tried contacting the branch as we left for Manchester at 7 AM the next day but couldn’t reach anyone. After two hours of research, we finally contacted Customer Service and spoke to Leanne (Area Manager), who spent two hours trying to contact Hays Wakefield. Even Leanne didn’t know our correct flights—we had to tell them the route we were actually taking. By 9 PM, we finally discovered that our first flight was only delayed. Hays Travel Wakefield hadn’t even checked the correct information—they sent completely wrong flights, leaving us stressed and anxious the day before our holiday. During travel, the problems continued. I repeatedly called Sam from the branch to clarify the flights and request vouchers for food or lounges during long layovers in Hong Kong. He said he would “try” but never followed up. When we finally reached him from another number, he falsely claimed lounges were unavailable—something we later confirmed online was untrue. Sam never checked back or offered any assistance. We paid nearly £6,000 for a holiday, expecting professional service, guidance, and peace of mind. Instead, we faced misinformation, no communication, and complete neglect. After returning home, we waited a month for an email from the branch saying they could not handle compensation and that we would have to do it ourselves. This level of service is completely unacceptable. If you value your money, time, and sanity, avoid Hays Travel Wakefield at all costs. Book elsewhere—you will not get the support you are promised and will only experience stress, frustration, and disappointment.
Came in today to exchange money, lady was lovely even when my little girl was having a winge haha didn't put her off the great service.
Hays travel have done it once again. They've found the best holiday for our family to suit all our wants and needs at the best price possible. A very big thank you to Charlotte Stevenson who always goes above and beyond for us , searching tirelessly whilst still smiling ( you deserve a medal 😄) . Hays travel Wakefield have looked after us for a few years now and we wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff are amazing. Thank you again Charlotte for all your help 🙂
Fantastic staff very knowledgeable and helpful just booked my second European holiday today for this year hopefully the staff in the wakefield branch get to know about these post as sometimes people are quick to juge but slow to praise 👏
