Visited a few weeks ago. Everything was perfect — the best roast beef Sunday dinner I’ve had. The beef was cooked well, the vegetables were just right, and the gravy was great. The brownie for dessert finished the meal off nicely. Will definitely be back for more.
We rented 2 rooms, lovely rooms, clean, tidy, spacious, bathrooms a little dated, but never the less great value for money,beds where comfortable, shower was hot. we stayed because we had been to York for the day, so was a little closer to home! (Not to close tho still 2.5 hours drive)
Absolutely gorgeous location. Hotel is beautiful, rooms cosy and very clean. Staff friendly and very helpful. Food was delicious. Highly recommend.
We didn't stay over, just used the restaurant. I have to say the staff were very helpful and pleasant, but the food was awful. I ordered the steak pie and for the first time, I couldn't eat it. It was fatty, gravy looked more like brown water! It was really bad. We also ordered a sharing platter which was lovely. It had sausage rolls, scotch egg etc. This made up for the awful main. I wouldn't choose to eat here again. The place itself was lovely and staff faultless.
Fabulous 3 night stay at the Holmfield Arms. Quick and easy check in thanks to the lovely lady on reception on Monday. Room very presentable and a lovely comfy bed, and tidy bathroom although the shower could have been a bit more powerful. Food excellent on every evening, although service was a bit raggedy on Wednesday for some reason? But no complaints regarding the food or the value. Location is good for getting into Wakefield and for a little walk around the 3 parks which surround the hotel. Definitely recommend it and will be back again.
