Montgomerys bar

Had our son’s christening party here on December 1st. It was fantastic! The staff couldn’t do enough for us and were friendly and prompt. Adrian and Ann really went all out and we couldn’t have asked for more. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. Everyone commented on how lovely it was and how much they loved the bar itself. We can’t thank you enough!

Went a few weeks ago for the second time, lovely looking bar but empty and therefore lacking atmosphere. We ordered a bottle of Champagne which they didn’t have, they brought up 3 random never heard of bottles for us to choose from instead, some weren’t even chilled, then asked us if we wanted to open it ourselves and it was obvious both the girls serving didn’t feel confident to…and then as we drank jt the taste was unpleasant, like it was old. The staff rang the owner who suggested adding chambord which we did and it tasted worse. The whole experience was awkward and defiantly not the treat we were hoping for, I’ve never had to force down a glass of champers before!. The cocktails we had the 1st time we went were really nice and looked pretty, they took a long time to arrive but you can understand if they are hand made that may be the case. I don’t think we will go back, mainly because there is no atmosphere and lots of waiting, Wath was really busy everywhere else on both evenings…if it was busier though the wait would be even longer. All in all it feels like the bar is trying to be high end but it misses the mark which is a shame.

Second time visiting and won’t be going back. The we come to you is a load of nonsense. Once we sat down stairs the waitress come ordered our drinks and over half hour later she still did not come back. Second time visiting this evening, same again we come to you, brought the snacks waited 10 minuets never come back to us, but managed to serve the group of drunk loud men instead. Appalling service won’t be returning for a third time of disappointment.

Tried to get a drink at the bar, to be told it’s table service, take a seat and I’ll be right over! Twenty minutes later, still no order taken, went back to the bar to ask if I could order a drink and the stern faced waitress came over and took the order, no apology for the delay or anything! Then went to pay for the drinks to see people being served at the bar!! Atmosphere was none existance - don’t think we’ll be bothering again - total different experience at Beer Hause up the road!!
