Rarely do you come across a place like St Andrews. Simplistic and beautiful is the best way to describe the interior, and the churchyard is well maintained and nice to have a walk around. Of all the churches that I've visited very few have the feeling of being what the celtic people referred to as thin places (locations that are believed to be a little bit closer to heaven than most),St Andrews has that feeling.
Grade I listed church with C12 tower, nave and chancel. Restored by architect G E Street (of Royal Courts of Justice fame) 1872. South of the church is a medieval manor site, a Scheduled Monument. There are information boards about the church, churchyard and the manor site, so lots of interesting things to discover, making a visit well worthwhile. Church is not always open, so best check before visiting if you want to look inside as well.
A beautiful church in a quiet corner of Yorkshire. It's a great Anglo-Saxon church with an incredible ceiling.
Beautiful church located in a very pretty Dale. Small amount of parking outside. Nice information boards gives you plenty of historical information. Wonderful tranquil place, great views. Equally two good pubs nearby.
Im a child of jesus!
