Wensleydale Heifer is an inn located in West Witton. Few Inns can boast such an outstanding location as the Wensleydale Heifer Inn. Nestling in the picturesque village of West Witton in the heart of the Wensleydale and in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Untouched and unspoilt, this corner of Yorkshire offers a spectacular backdrop for the unrivalled enjoyment of fine country life including walking, trout fishing and bird watching. When the Wensleydale Heifer Inn was built in 1631 it was 'coaches and four' that brought the traveller to the front door. Today its fabric remains unchanged but for the modern facilities of en suit bathrooms, and a comfortable residents lounge with soft armchairs, antiques and crackling log fire burning when necessary. Guests comforts are assured in the tastefully decorated , fully equipped bedrooms, each with own character. Today, the heart of the old Inn is still in its kitchen. A wide range of dishes are available including a special selection for vegetarians. Menus change to reflect the seasons, with game from the moors, fish from Scotland and the East Coast, beef and lamb from the Dale, all supplemented by local vegetables. Puddings and real bread are baked daily, cask conditioned ales are pulled from the barrel and wines from around the world compliment the imaginative English cuisine. Meals are served in either the bar, the informal bistro or the beamed and candlelit restaurant.Facilities

Stayed here for my birthday and from start to finish have had an amazing time. So much food, drink and chats with friendly staff and guests made the whole experience of our stay enjoyable. A little hidden gem in our gorgeous Yorkshire dales should be tried by anyone who loves delicious food cooked to perfection. Every dish sourced locally and with so much taste infused into every mouthful it really was a culinary delight. Our stay in the chocolate room had so many chocolaty treats to enjoy and also a very good choice of beverages in the mini bar. There was also complementary water and milk for general teas and coffee for our stay. The amenities was extremely clean and very comfortable and had the luxury temple spar products to use which was an added bonus too. This has been the best birthday treat I've had and would definitely recommend coming back here again.
What an amazing meal. The food, the service and the ambiance are all outstanding. We live and travel for food of this standard. Respect to Craig the head chef (apologies that we didnt get to thank you in person). Every dish was served fresh, hot and with a smile. Sorry I can't name check the team that made our afternoon so special. The menu isn't huge but there is something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the plates.
Outstanding service and food! Cannot wait to return. Treated my husband to his birthday dinner here, there was a balloon and a voucher on the table on arrival! We took our dog and everyone made a big fuss of him too. Service was amazing and the food was delicious. Thanks again :D
We stayed at this lovely hotel for an anniversary celebration and couldn’t fault anything. All the staff we encountered (cleaning, service, front of house and chefs) were really friendly, polite and helpful. As fish lovers we thought the food was delicious and the sweet treats in the room were lovely. The room was clean and comfortable and the service excellent. The hotel is very dog friendly with dog friendly dining areas and Fizz very much appreciated the treats and breakfast sausage. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Very high quality dining with wonderful service. To start we shared the 'Sweet Chilli Prawns with Cashew Nuts, Coriander, Coconut'. Portion was 3 very large prawns. The sauce was amazing! For mains we each had the 'Hake served with Caper Crushed Potatoes, Pea Puree, Dill, Crispy Cockles' accompanied by 'Wok Fried Broccoli – Chilli, Sesame, Soy, Shallots, Coriander' all delicious - fish cooked perfectly. Great flavours. We were too full for pudding!
