Absolutely gorgeous chippy! The food is fresh, generous in portion, and full of flavour exactly what you want from proper fish and chips. It’s the perfect spot to grab a takeaway and enjoy it by the river on a sunny day, which makes the experience even more special. I really appreciate the little details that set this place apart: you can add your own salt and vinegar just the way you like it, and they thoughtfully separate the gravy or mushy peas from the fish and chips so nothing goes soggy before you’re ready to eat. It’s small touches like these that show they care about the quality of the meal from start to finish.
Outstanding traditional fish and chips Visited The Weatherby Whalers and it truly lived up to its reputation. The fish was fresh, flaky, and cooked to perfection with a light, golden, crispy batter that wasn’t greasy at all. The chips were proper traditional chips—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and clearly freshly prepared. Portion sizes were very generous and excellent value for money. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned, and you can tell real care goes into the food. The shop itself was clean and well organised, and service was quick, efficient, and friendly even during busy times. What I really liked is that they’ve kept the classic fish and chips experience exactly as it should be—no shortcuts, just quality ingredients and great cooking. Easily one of the best fish and chip shops in the area. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for proper, high-quality fish and chips.
Don’t think you can get better fish and chips than what is served. The tartar sauce is also amazing and fresh and we’ve never had a bad meal here. Well worth a visit if you are in Wetherby.
Nice, clean restaurant with friendly professional staff and comfortable seating. Good variety of food on offer, the chips, peas and onion rings were to a high standard. The trifle for dessert was delicious. Staff weren't trying to hurry you along so you could enjoy your meal in peace.
