Our first visit to Wharram Percy. The website said £2 to park but I couldn't find any way of paying. The satnav took us a very convoluted route, eventually I ignored it and used the road signs! Old skool! The path from the car park to the village is easy enough to navigate. Only a 15 minute walk. But unsuitable for wheelchair users and buggies. Plenty of Information boards to read as you wander around. The 17th Century farmhouse and the ruins of St Martin's church are the most visible features. A fascinating place. Very restful. Absolutely dripping in history. Dogs must be on a lead as this farmland is used by livestock. A great way to spend a couple of hours. No toilets. No refreshments.

Such an amazing place with so much history, from iron age, maybe bronze age into the medieval era, when the settlement began to rely get established, only to end up being decided farming sheep was more important than the village and landowners decided it's fate as sheep farming.. nothing much changes. The best apple orchard ever is here, only varieties and millions of red admiral butterflies featuring on the windfalls.
