Holmleigh is the perfect choice for taking in the sights of Whitby, Moors and Coast offering easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the spectacular rugged Heritage Coastline. Holmleigh Guest House is a large Edwardian townhouse ideally situated less than ten minutes’ walk from the tourist attractions of Whitby in North Yorkshire.
Here at Holmleigh we are able to offer a range of facilities to help you make the most of your stay. Comfortable well appointed en suite rooms with free wifi access in homely surrounding and generous home cooked full English breakfasts are the order of the day - many of our guests inform us that our breakfasts set them up for their day out, whether it’s sightseeing, participating in activities or walking along the beach, you are assured of a peaceful relaxing time with us. Holmleigh Guest House is an ideal base to stay in Whitby. Within a few minutes of leaving the house you may explore the fascinating ancient fishing port which is steeped in history. There is much to see and do in the area. We offer fantastic value for money rates for stays of three or more nights making Holmleigh the perfect place for extended breaks and weekly bookings. There are endless opportunities for sightseeing either on foot, by bike, car or by public transport from our doorstep. There is easy access to public transport links with bus stops within yards of our car park and the railway station is approximately 500m away.
Private off-street parking space is provided for all guests staying with us. The benefit of free onsite parking space for each room is a rare facility found at only a few B&Bs and Guest Houses in Whitby. Cyclists and walkers are well catered for here at Holmleigh. For those wishing to bring their bikes with them, there is free secure storage provided for cycles and motorcyclists are also welcomed. Those intending to use their cars frequently throughout their visit or wanting to make Whitby a base to explore further afield, then you have the assurance that parking will be available upon your return.
There are miles of cycling and walking trails to be enjoyed with routes along the coast and the scenic North Yorkshire countryside. In fact, there is something for everyone in the North Yorkshire Moors and Coast area. There are rocky coves, miles of sandy beaches and a scattering of picture postcard fishing villages. Hidden between the steep cliffs, are the tiny fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes. Steam enthusiasts are extremely well catered for as the NYMR stages many events throughout the year. Set against the backdrop of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, the footpaths and way marked Rail Trail routes provide ample opportunities to visit the engine sheds and observe the steam trains along the line. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway is the longest heritage steam railway in the country running 26 miles from Pickering and terminates at Whitby.
Activities include walking, cycling, golf, horse riding. water sports, sea, game and coarse angling. For the more energetic visitor, there are over 2,200k of paths and tracks to explore. You may begin your exploration of Whitby and the surrounding area on foot, by bike, car, train or bus. The area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts: the North Yorks Moors National Park and Heritage Coast are literally on our doorstep. Within a few hundred yards of Holmleigh you can begin to appreciate this magnificent landscape via the pannier ways, ancient stone trods and stone crosses built many centuries ago.
We actively encourage longer term bookings by significantly reducing our weekly rates for stays of seven or more nights. Our fantastic value for money FREE NIGHT OFFER for weekly stays is based on six nights’ stay at the maximum room rates for both double and flexible en suite rooms. Midweek rates are available for minimum stays of consecutive three nights, maximum five consecutive nights which are taken between Sundays and Thursday nights only.
