We stopped in the executive room it was dusty on some services. We had a please do not disturb on the door and a bloke just walked in to clean the room.my wife was still getting ready. luckily the bedroom door was pulled to.there were no catches on any doors not even the bathroom door we had to put a shoe behind the door when we went to the toilet to keep a little privacy. The executive room is in the attic and the stairs are very slim steep and very hard to get up and down really awkward with bags. There is no breakfast at this pub or any food but let me say the atmosphere in the pub is banging a good pub to go to for music and a chat staff are very pleasant and friendly . We also have to say it is a old building so we have to give and take a little bit . Thank you anyway we still enjoyed are stay a Whitby.
We stayed here for 2 nights over New Year and as pub I would recommend the place if you like a lively bar with friendly staff and a good selection of beer. However, if you are planning on staying then I would think harder than we did about staying over a pub. Admittedly it was New Years eve and some would say what did you expect but the volume in our room until 2PM was quite extraordinary. Ear plugs were helpless as the sound was vibrating though all the furniture and our bodies. If you like pubs and staying up until the bitter end then it could be the place for you but if you think when you retire to your room after the night is over for you and you're hoping to get some respite then unlike us think twice.
Missing 1 star because no breakfast is included with your stay and in our room the was a little mould and dampness on part of the wall/ceiling. Everything else was great, nice little cosy pub. Weekend entertainment and very close to everything.
Stayed here for one night on 6th Sept. It's a pub so don't expect the usual hotel facilities, they don't serve breakfast and there's no lounge or reception area. However the room (no. 3) was really good. There's a warning that it may be noisy due to being over (a really good) pub however I never found this to be an issue. I would recommend this place for a short stay as it's right in the centre of town next to Trenchers.
Excellent drinks, friendly staff and a traditional pub atmosphere. Highly recommend 👌
