Many happy memories of delicious take away food from this place. We never minded cash only but this year wow what a change. Tried twice and sadly will give it a miss next holiday. Menu has shrunk, really limited, no soup and only tiny pancake rolls no spring rolls at all. First order the curry sauce tasted weird and sweet and was kind of lumpy, my partners meal was fine. When we tried again we all wanted rice only to be told they had no rice. Sign on the door maybe? Plain noodles instead then after a long wait, they were sadly greasy. So much good food in Whitby and this place still used to be a treat. Do not know what's changed.
Unbelievable!!! and not in a good way. Always had reasonable food from here but it must have changed hands, as now very limited menu and over priced. The food was ok, nothing special but the most alarming thing was that they had run out of rice!!!! Chips or rice as an alternative, but if choosing the noodle option being charged for a Chow Mein. Order also took 40 minutes to prepare, with no apology for any inconvenience. Safe to say we shall not be using them again
A real shame. The shop was absolutely freezing, so we had to go to the George Hotel whilst we waited 😉 Satay chicken starter was unlike any satay I have ever had - and not in a good way. The two main courses looked and tasted exactly the same - but one had 6 cashew nuts in it. It wasn’t bad - ie inedible - but I would have rather gone without.
We ordered on Sunday evening, 7th December. We were a captive audience as staying nearby for a weekend away and nowhere does delivery. So first point lost, no delivery - although this seems to be the norm in this area so maybe our expectations were too high. When we got home with the food, the food was edible but out of our group of 5 nobody was impressed. All dishes tasted more or less the same even though we had different dishes; they were bland. And perhaps most disappointingly, the chow mein was bland. I thought this was a Chinese staple that most places could get right even if not the other dishes. To the owners if you read this. This Chinese food was a big disappointment. Not sure if we had food on a bad day or not, but I hope you will take this as intended (constructive criticism) and look into making improvements for your own sake.
We were really looking forward to a nice Chinese meal, but sadly it missed the mark. The food was bland, the rice had spent a little too long in the pan, and that hint of old cooking oil didn’t help. Let’s just say it wasn’t our cup of tea! Definitely not one we’ll be rushing back to, but at least it gave us a story to tell.
