Absolutely delicious. The poor lady appeared totally rushed off her feet this evening, not sure how many people out the back but only had the impression one was. Yet still the food was well cooked, very flavoursome and tasty. Will definitely be back when we next come to Whitby!
Waste of money . All bone dry . Ordered mushroom chow mein as I’m vegetarian . Literally dry plain noodles with a few chopped up mushrooms , no sauce . Chips rock hard . Hubby got sweet sour chicken in batter and again bone dry.
Pro's: Chips and chow mein are OK. So are the chicken balls (without the sauce, see below). Con's: Everything seemed to come in the same gelatinous sauce in varying colours. It was far from enticing and resembled wallpaper paste. The sauce on the bbq spare ribs, pineapple chicken, chicken with cashews and the sweet and sour sauce all had this same gloopy consistency. We'd been thinking of trying Rainbow for the last few years during our family summer holidays, we did today, and won't again.
We love Chinese food, eaten it all over the country (and world!) and the only good things about this place was the speed and the price. Everything but the rice dishes were bland and covered in a thick gelatinous sauce (as other reviewers pointed out), the sweet and sour sauce specifically is the worst I've tasted. They also don't deliver and take cash only 🤷. We'll continue to wait in hope that Whitby gets even a semi-decent Chinese that can deliver. 🙏
This is the takeaway we most use and not just because it's the nearest to us! Run by a lovely Chinese couple who do nearly everything themselves, there's a decent menu and reasonable prices. You may have to wait a little while for your food as everything is cooked to order and it's usually busy but it's spotlessly clean and there's always someone to chat to.
