Important to know: There is a new address! Don't go to the wharf! The address on google maps hasn't been updated as of December 2025. This post office is now located inside the Co-Op across the street.
Polite and helpful staff - yes, otherwise a place stuck in the past. Often long slow-moving queues like the Labour Exchange queues of the 1970s, also unable to accept a prepaid Track 24 package after 4.45pm even though the mail collection time from the post office is advertised as 5.00pm and the postman had not been and was nowhere in sight. Why? ‘Because we have to do the paperwork’. The post office clerk just needed to scan the items, swivel 180 degrees on her chair and put it in the sack behind her. Come on ladies - you need to up your gain!!
Advertised changed opening times by a bit of paper and not updating their website. Finding out that is shut after you arrive is not useful
Friday 29th Sept. A long queue as usual and only two serving ,normally there is only one at busy times .I stepped up to the counter and the elderly lady said in a stern voice I'm not ready yet and waved her hand at me . I past the remark Well I have been waiting twenty minutes for which I received the datglook and at that she walked away , which left only one serving .There are other places to pay cash over the counters and I will be doing that in future.
After a bad experience at the costcutter parade post office in Whitby which the man’s rudeness reduced me to tears and he threatened to fine me as I had innocently printed off the wrong label which e bay had given me I went to the co-op post office and a lovely lady called Sarah not only helped me but was kind understanding and so polite and helpful restored my faith in the royal mail
