There is an interesting & informative museum of the Whitby history as well as gift shop for the visitors. Its holding the old monastery and Abbey building’s ruins to show the history of this area. Even its part of Whitby Abbey then why not pop in and have some more info about Whitby.
Now I know it's just a gift shop, but it's free to enter unlike the Abbey and it still looks good. It also features a museum. There isn't a cafe in there, but behind is one, which belongs to tut YHA. Very friendly staff.
This house now houses a museum linked to the history of Whitby Abbey and entry is included with entry to the grounds. This is well worth visiting if also visiting the abbey.
a well - realised project. Great use of space to showcase aspects of life on the headland over millennia. Imaginative depictions of the different stages of the abbey and evocative displays of the artefacts.
Contains a museum and shop for the abbey/history of the area which was a pleasant surprise.
