We were assigned the Chart Room, we were hoping the more recent reviews would be reflected, unfortunately when we arrived the room was dirty there were dusty cobwebs on the walls so it clearly hadn't been cleaned (properly) for a while. The bathroom stank, the smell was unbearable, there was a thick urine smell mixed with something else, almost like the smell of a public toilet. We complained about the room and were upgraded but we actually had to pay extra for the upgrade and move all of our stuff from one hotel to another. Absolutely will not be coming back to this hotel, I doubt we'll be using Discovery hotels at all in future. Extremely upsetting.

Visited for 3 nights, stopping in the Ammonite flat. The room had a smell coming from the bathroom but otherwise the bathroom was good. The bedroom/kitchen had a comfy bed but for some strange reason the kitchen part of the flat had no cooker, no plates, no bowls, no cutlery. You only get a kettle, microwave and toaster. If there is that why no plates or cutlery. So I had to buy plates bowls and cutlery. I noticed that the consumer unit(fuse box) cover wasn't screwed on which isn't very good. Better blackout blinds are needed, there's a hairdryer should you forget. For what I paid £137 it was ideal for our requirements. We both say we'd stay there again as it's ideally placed with free parking

★☆☆☆☆ – Avoid at all costs Booked this property specifically because it included parking, which I confirmed directly with the property manager ahead of time. Parking in Whitby over a bank holiday is a nightmare, so this was a dealbreaker. When we arrived, there were no free spaces outside the building. After several phone calls, I was eventually told they couldn’t do anything and was given a space a 7-minute walk away. Technically a space, but not what was promised, and certainly not practical. It got worse. The room we were given looked nothing like the photos on Booking.com. After digging deeper, I found out the images shown are from a completely different property closer to town. This is blatant false advertising. When I called to question it, I was told to send an email if I had a problem. No apology, no solution – just brushed off. The room was dirty. Cutlery appeared used, the bed was rock-hard, walls paper-thin, and pillows had a plastic coating – genuinely one of the most uncomfortable stays I’ve had. The entire experience, from service to cleanliness, was shambolic. I’ve stayed in youth hostels that were far more comfortable and professionally run than this. The company manages several properties around Whitby – based on this, I won’t be staying in any of them again. Untrustworthy, uncomfortable, and completely misrepresented.

Awful - the rooms you get look nothing like the pictures. Dirty and basic, the cups and bowls still had tea from the previous occupants in them. No washing up liquid, cloths or tea towels are provided. Booked as a family of 3 but ended up with a one bedroom apartment and a tiny loft room in a separate building a 10 minute walk away. Avoid at all costs.

Dreadful accommodation room was so small we had to follow each other around just to get to the bathroom. The bed was so uncomfortable and the pillows were flat from over use. The only good thing about the food was the view and that it was close to the town
