This place was a little gem right in the middle of Whitby — perfect spot, just a short (and slightly uphill!) walk into town. If hills aren’t your thing, you’ll get a free leg workout out of it. Bonus points for the view of Whitby Abbey, which looked amazing all lit up for Halloween. The hotel went all out with the Halloween decorations — it looked class at night, like something out of a movie. Each room’s named after someone linked to Whitby — we got the St Hilda room, but there were others like Captain Cook, Bram Stoker, and Sutcliffe. We rocked up about 7pm, rang the bell, and got greeted by a friendly young lad — possibly the owner’s son — who checked us in, offered us breakfast, and explained everything like a pro. Room was up four flights of stairs (my legs still haven’t forgiven me), but it was spotless and had everything we needed — kettle, iron, towels, TV, heater, all the essentials. Bed was comfy, slept like a log. Staff were waiting and friendly when we checked out the next morning too. All in all, can’t fault it — great location, friendly people, comfy beds, and one of the cheaper places around. Definitely recommend it if you’re staying in Whitby! 👻
