What a lovely hotel, ideally placed for Whitby, short walk in. We were lucky to be upgraded to a suite overlooking the sea and golf course. Breakfast was wonderful, freshly cooked, hot and tasty, coffee was excellent. We booked for Sunday lunch, we had the 3 meat special, so glad we didn't order starters, the main meal was more than enough. Staff were excellent, great service throughout.
Awful service and zero professionalism. On New Year’s Day I was meeting there with the family and I was the first one to arrive. The man who seemed to be the manager was rude, dismissive and made me feel unwelcome from the moment I arrived. He refused me a table saying they were busy (it didn’t even look that busy) but 10 minutes later suddenly found one, perhaps after realising he was effectively kicking out a mother with a small baby in horrendous winter weather. He then acted awkward when I sat down to feed my baby (fully modestly, nothing on show). Being made to feel uncomfortable for breastfeeding in this day and age is ridiculous. Some serious staff training is clearly needed.
We didn't stay over. We went for a meal celebrating my partners birthday. Babs had one of the chicken dishes and I had sea bass (which was the best I've ever eaten). The service was great, the food amazing and the beer was tasty, I also had a sweet which was delicious too. Although I didn't have the one I wanted as it was sold out. Nevertheless I would recommend this place to anyone, and I'm sure we'll be back the next time we holiday in Whitby.
Excellent stay we were delighted with a free upgrade with a great view, lovely staff and wonderful food will definitely return! Highly recommend.
4 of us had an evening meal. We had an excellent table. Our well behaved German shepherd was with us. Our staff were very accommodating. Our food was excellent. A successful evening. Thank you. Well return when next in Whitby 🥂
