I commissioned a painting in August 2021, paid a deposit and was told there would be a 2yr waiting list. I have, from time to time sent emails asking about progress. In August 2023 I was told that Ady would be working on my commission very soon and that I was "one of the people at the top of his list". I have heard nothing since. When I visited the gallery I thought Ady was a really genuine guy.... just goes to show how wrong you can be. Not only have I no painting but I consider it disrespectful and rude not to keep a client updated.
I write this with a heavy heart. We love Whitby. We have visited Ady’s gallery on a number of occasions and have been truly inspired by his story and work. We decided to invest in his artwork and commissioned a piece in December 2022, paying in full. After numerous emails and promises, including being told the piece was completed and just needed signing, we’ve now been advised that Ady sold our painting to someone else. Matt (works at the gallery) told us to contact our bank for a refund. This isn’t possible and after asking Matt to refund the money, we’ve had radio silence. Leaving this review is a last resort and a warning to others. We have no painting, are out of pocket and saddened that this is how it’s ended up.
In 2022 we commissioned a painting for my 40th birthday. Told there would be a 12 month waiting list Heard nothing for 2 years. We chased it up, and only recieved one response, which was they couldn't find our details despite a deposit of £100.00 having been taken. There have been no further responses to my attempts to follow up and I turn 43 next month. Such a shame.
Got the pleasure of meeting Ady, and He got to meet my lovely but rather large dog. What an amazing guy, so friendly and welcoming. His painting have amazing asthetic to them, so dynamic and an eye of capturing a mood or moment in way, i think most artists would take a life time to master. Simply an amazing artist. a must visit.
Amazing Art. It's dynamic and it moves. Ady paints motion and captures the ever changing moods of sea and sky. You feel like you are in the landscape. There is an ethereal, almost spooky atmosphere that might just be the shadow of Whitby. Even if it's not in the painting...it's in the painting. I feel so inspired by Ady Wrights story and work. His paintings are full of light and spirit.
