If you remember from the history books the events of 1914, where one of the German ships in the cover of the fog fired almost 100 missiles destroying part of the town, this memorial reminds you of that. It illustrates the destruction of that period using one house as an example, and although everything was reconstructed, it was just like that. It was over 100 years ago, today we can only mention and remember these events.
This is so special. So much thought and detail has gone in to creating this beautiful little area. A tasteful reminder of Whitby during the war and how far we’ve come.
