My daughter joined the school nine months ago after struggling to cope in mainstream due to SEND-related issues. The child-centred, holistic approach provided by the school gives a well-rounded and thorough education whilst allowing the children to be themselves and grow in their own individual ways. The compassionate and dedicated staff lead by example, providing a safe and nurturing environment and, from what I’ve seen of the older children, all of this produces confident, astute, considerate young people filled with drive and enthusiasm. In the short time my daughter has attended York Steiner School, the difference it has made has been profound - reduced anxiety and masking, starting to make friends and improved self-confidence through non-judgemental acceptance from peers and teachers alike. And school doesn’t just look after the students. When you join the school you really feel like you’re joining a community. Everyone is welcomed and differences are not just respected but celebrated. I feel like we’ve met so many wonderful people in a very short space of time and there’s a very good reason I call this our miracle school. I just wish I’d known about it years ago!

BEST SCHOOL EVER! I went to this school for 11 years and no school has ever compared. It's such a close community you never go unheard or unnoticed. I never felt stressed at this school due to the unique way of teaching and learning. I had so many once in a lifetime experiences for example sailing on a Tall Ship (this was optional). Can not recommend enough - every school should be a Steiner school!

We love this school; my daughter settled in immediately due to supportive, friendly staff and pupils and is thriving in so many ways, but most importantly she feels safe, is confident and able to be herself here. With so much focus on wellbeing and helping achieve their potential in creative ways, it's such a happy, energetic place to be. We travel an hour to get here but my daughter doesn't complain

I come along to the school fairs as I have a connection with a member of staff. It's lovely to see how proud the children are of their school and how much they love being there. The school has a family atmosphere and it seems to be as much of a home as it is a place of learning. It has always struck me as being a very special and unique place

I joined here from Bootham in class 4 and they made such a positive change to my life and education, giving me lasting memories, unique experience and friendships as well as a solid education. Covering things from the basics like maths, English and science to a wide coverage of history, religion and practical things such as woodworking. I never felt stressed or pressured and always felt I had someone to talk to and I was always noticed. And I cannot recommend it enough.
