The atmosphere was ok, lots of people in drinking not many eating. We ordered a kebab wrap which was 98% salad wouldn't recommend to anyone
The food and drinks were excellent, with large portions and very reasonably priced. Friendly prompt service. We enjoyed a live band. The atmosphere was really laid back but lively enough. Definitely recommend.
A very nice pub with a good atmosphere and an excellent array of pints on tap! Unfortunately, our group experience was undermined by one very rude member of staff. We had our ID checked at the door, no issue at all. We got to the bar where we were then requested to produce it again. We obliged. When I, however, politely asked what the reason for this 2nd check was, we were met with a barrage of rude and patronising comments and, despite having produced our ID a second time, the lady threatened not to serve us should I continue "arguing" with her. I would like to think that I was very calm and reasonable but was disappointed to be met with such rudeness and disregard as a result of a genuine question. Not a very pleasant experience. I understand the ID check laws and the strict regulations around this, but what is the point of the venue being 18+ only after a certain time if we are then going to be inconvenienced and disrespected at the bar?
Not a sports bar. Ridiculous to have so many televisions with sky sports being drowned out by a joker dj playing garbage whilst shouting "karaoke everyone" once every 5 minutes. Management might like to check cctv and take note of the empty tables near the 'karaoke' while everyone else was crammed in one end watching sport. Everyone else had left. Here for 3 more days but won't be visiting this pub again.
The Stonebow Pub is a modern building somewhat out of keeping with the old buildings nearby. I thought I would give it a try as I've been past it plenty of times. It has a modern feel inside. There's no pool table, but there is a dart board and TVs for watching Sport. There is a wide selection of beers, lager and cider, including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales, which were in excellent condition when I visited. I haven't tried the food but the pub was very busy with a lot of people dining and the meals did look very tempting. The staff are very friendly and welcoming it's a nice place, next time i would like to try the food.
