We were in York looking for an independent eatery that could cater for a meat eater and vegan and came across Batanga. I’m so glad we tried it. Hidden down in Franklins Yard this quirky restaurant and its food hit the spot. The best Mexican food we have eaten. Great service, amazing food, definitely worth a try!

Been to Batanga several times now, with a variety of different groups (friends, girlfriend, parents) and all loved it! The food is delicious and there's a great selection of cocktails and drinks available. The venue is quirky and fun with an open kitchen and friendly staff. Definitely worth booking as I don't think you will be able to get in otherwise, but that's just how it goes. Can't wait for my next visit.
Honestly one of the best restaurants I've tried in York! Exquisite food and very kind and friendly staff. It's always a pleasure to be in a place where you can find both great food and a welcoming atmosphere. Delicious cocktails, what can I say, I will definitely come back!
Amazing back street Mexican. Small place, but food it fantastic. The tacos are some of the best I've tried. £5 and £6 cocktails too. Food and drinks came to around 50 pound. Very reasonable!
