El Piano

Description

El Piano is the “Taste of York” 2012 as voted for by the general public in the VistYork Tourism awards. We have been offering a different approach to dining since 1998. A wholly vegan AND wholly gluten-free menu is served to a wide customer base from our medieval building in York city centre. All dietary requirements can be catered for as everything (except corn tortillas) is made daily on the premises, using organic and local produce where possible.

The style of dining is informal and you can eat in or take out from our WRAPIDO window. There are party rooms on the first floor where customers may host their chosen buffet for up to fifty people. A baby grand piano is available and is freely played by visitors. These rooms are also offered for local group meetings, evening classes etc.

Al fresco dining is encouraged in our floral south facing courtyard where some herbs are grown and the occasional successful tomato and chilli plants. This space together with the barn also doubles as a great demonstration and workshop area. Friday evenings in the summer months the courtyard provides a lively place to meet up with friends for a drink and enjoy our complimentary tapas.

The kitchen on the ground floor is open plan and the distant clatter of cooking laced with aromas of food under preparation form a common back-drop.
Keen to share our knowledge and passion for great food, we produce a range of cook books - our latest, The Final Touch is currently at print, whilst we also load a free recipe monthly onto our website. In addition we have developed a range of take home baking KITS so vulnerable eaters can enjoy our foods at home.
